Defiant Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has yet again dared
Deputy President William Ruto against ‘meddling’ in area
politics insisting that he was a ‘junior’ in the political
arena despite his steady rise.
Both Rutos have been having a hot and cold relationship
with the Governor dissenting against the formation of
the Jubilee Party before registering his own Chama Cha
Mashinani party.
And during an impromptu visit to Ikorongo village which
borders Sotik and Borabu where fresh fighting had been
reported on Saturday morning, Governor Ruto took a jibe
on the DP claiming that he was ready for a political
battle.
“I have much respect for him (Ruto) but there comes a
time when you say enough is enough. He cannot
continue to meddle in local politics while he has a bigger
responsibility as the country’s second in command,” he
said when asked by reporters.
He added: “he is a junior when it comes to politics and
he can attest to that because I nurtured him while at the
University of Nairobi. I even contributed towards his
steady rise in politics and if he wants a tussle with me, I
am much prepared.”
On cattle rustling in the troubled region, the Bomet
Governor urged elders to use alternative dispute
resolution methods as a way of embracing peaceful
coexistence.
“I have come to this region several times and I am not
impressed with what I am seeing. Let us embrace
peaceful resolution methods rather than rising again one
another,” he said.
