ODM expels 10 defectors. The following must seek re-election through jubilee party :


The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) disciplinary
committee has expelled 10 rebel leaders who decamped
to the Jubilee Party.
Bundalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who resigned as the
party’s secretary general in July, is among the expelled
leaders.

Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya who recently declared that
he would support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his
deputy William Ruto in the 2017 elections to ensure they
are re-elected, was not spared either.
Other leaders who have been expelled include Kisii
Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Mathare MP Steven
Kariuki, Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura, Kwale woman
representative Zainab Chidzuga, Nakuru Town West MP
Samuel Arama, Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima, Sirisia MP
John Waluke and Viwandani MCA Samwel Nyang’wara.
However, the party’s National Governing Council (NGC),
gave Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Mustafa Idd (Kilifi
South), Gideon Mung’aro (Kilifi North), Chachu Ganya
(North Horr) and James Rege (Karachuonyo) more time
to prosecute their cases before the disciplinary
committee.
Marsabit Governor Ukur Yatani and Igembe Central MP
Cyprian Kubai were however pardoned by the council.
The expelled members are now expected to defend their
seats through by-elections.
