Blow to Uhuru as Magara, ex-MPs
hint at ditching Jubilee for ODM
President Uhuru Kenyatta ’s Jubilee Party has suffered a
major blow in Gusiiland, barely a week after it lost the
Nyacheki ward by-election in Kisii County.
This comes after three former MPs accused another rival
camp that has been working with the President of
‘arrogance’ and hinted at joining the Orange Democratic
Movement.

The former lawmakers, Winfred Ombui (North
Mugirango), Robert Monda (Nyaribari Chache) and
the Kenyatta International Convention Centre chairperson
Omingo Magara said the recent Nyacheki by-election had
shown that Jubilee Party is not wanted due to ‘bad’
drivers.
“Jubilee Party is being driven by bad drivers and you all
saw what happened in Nyacheki. The people of Gusii
have clearly communicated and as their leaders, we
cannot afford to let them down,” said Magara.
“We were willing to work with the President but he chose
to work with unpopular people. We would rather now
work with the community which has resisted the agents
and vowed to work with the opposition ODM. This is
politics and we must do what people want,” added
Monda.
Ombui on his part said it was hard to sell the Jubilee
agenda in North Mugirango, and insisted that he would
dance to the tune of the residents.
“It’s quite hard to rally for Jubilee in Nyamira and I have
no option other than joining people. It’s the people who
decide,” he said.
The three made the remarks on Sunday during funds
drive at Maranatha Faith in Nyamira County.
